Saskatchewan Commercial Innovation Incentive

Saskatchewan patent-box style incentive that cuts the provincial corporate income tax rate to 6 percent for companies that commercialize qualifying intellectual property in the province. The reduced rate lasts 10 years, or 15 years if at least half the related R&D was done in Saskatchewan. It is open to companies in any sector and was extended to June 2027.

What you'll need

  • SCII Application for Scientific Eligibility
  • Proof of ownership or licence of qualifying intellectual property
  • Sole corporation eligibility documentation
  • SCII claim form filed with the Ministry of Finance

How to apply

  1. 1Submit the Application for Scientific Eligibility to the Ministry of Trade and Export Development
  2. 2Set up an eligible corporation tied to the IP commercialization
  3. 3Receive a certificate of eligibility
  4. 4File the SCII claim form each year with your T2 return
