Rural Ontario Development (ROD) Program

Last verified: June 2026

An Ontario program (the successor to the Rural Economic Development program) that funds projects strengthening rural economies. Small brick-and-mortar businesses with 1 to 20 employees can apply to the business development stream for up to 35% cost-share to a maximum of $10,000. Larger funding streams up to $250,000 are available to municipalities, Indigenous communities, and not-for-profits for economic development and infrastructure projects. Projects must be located in an eligible rural area of Ontario.
