Film Incentive BC (FIBC) Tax Credit

FIBC is a refundable tax credit for Canadian-controlled production companies that make film, TV, animation, and visual effects projects in British Columbia. It is calculated on eligible B.C. labour costs, with a basic rate of 40% for productions that started principal photography after 2024. Extra bonuses are available for regional shooting, distant locations, training, animation and VFX work, and scriptwriting.

What you'll need

  • Eligibility certificate from Creative BC
  • Completion certificate from Creative BC
  • Schedule of B.C. and non-B.C. costs
  • Declaration of B.C. residency for cast and crew
  • T2 Corporation Income Tax Return

How to apply

  1. 1Confirm the production is Canadian-controlled with a permanent establishment in B.C.
  2. 2Apply to Creative BC for an eligibility certificate as early as possible in pre-production
  3. 3Apply for a completion certificate and file it with your T2 return through the CRA
