Tax term

Normal Reassessment Period

The window during which the CRA can reassess a return, and during which you can usually request a change to claim something you missed. It runs about three years from the date on the notice of assessment for most corporations and individuals; the CRA accepts personal change requests for up to ten prior years at its discretion. Once it closes, a year is generally statute-barred and cannot be reopened.
