We're building the tax layer
for Canadian small business.
Not hiring yet. But we will be. Here's what that looks like.
Deductly is a free platform that matches Canadian businesses to grants, tax credits, and deductions they qualify for. 313programs in the database today. 10 questions, 3 minutes, no login. We're a small team, and intend to stay one for a while.
Roles we'll need.
In rough priority order. Specifics will shift with what the product needs.
Full-stack engineer
- Own the matching algorithm, quiz flow, and per-program detail pages
- Ship features for the Pro tier (deadline alerts, digests, planning reports)
- Build and maintain the SEO surface across hundreds of generated pages
- Improve test coverage, monitoring, and developer experience
What we look forSomeone who has shipped and maintained a real product in production.
Why it mattersThe entire product is code. Every quality improvement compounds.
Grants researcher
- Find and verify new federal and provincial programs every week
- Write program descriptions, eligibility rules, and application steps
- Keep existing entries accurate when rules change
- Build relationships with program administrators
What we look forDetail-obsessed. Comfortable reading dense government documents.
Why it mattersThe database is the moat. Accuracy is non-negotiable.
Growth
- Run outreach to accountants, bookkeepers, and Canadian SMB communities
- Design and ship experiments on the landing page and quiz flow
- Own the conversion funnel end to end
- Build the case studies and content programs that drive organic traffic
What we look forComfortable with ambiguity. Has moved a real metric before.
Why it mattersDiscovery without distribution is nothing.
Designer
- Own the visual system across product and marketing
- Improve the quiz UX based on real user behavior
- Design the Pro dashboard and accountant tooling
- Set the bar for the rest of the team on craft
What we look forStrong portfolio with SaaS or fintech work.
Why it mattersTrust is visual. Every pixel reads as either credible or not.
